The consultation on the proposed closure of Ramsbury fire station ended on May 15th and the decision will be taken on June 30th. The Parish Council wrote to all 18 members of Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service Executive and MP Danny Kruger, objecting to the proposal and making the case that Ramsbury station is important in giving speedy response times in what is an area of the county which has few fire stations near it. We also suggested that the Executive should hold fire on closing any stations until they have considered ways to increase recruitment and pursue better funding from central government for what is a seriously underfunded emergency service.
