Please drive carefully and watch out for ice this weekend

As temperatures are expected to fall below or near to zero tonight and possibly over the weekend, we are advising you to take extra care on the roads.

Our gritter fleet will be working whenever we have a period of cold weather, to treat the county’s primary and secondary routes.

So please drive extremely carefully, assuming that there is ice present, even on treated roads. Also be extra careful when walking on pavements as this weather leads to an increased risk of slips, trips and falls.

Due to the low temperatures, we've activated the Severe Weather Emergency Provision for rough sleepers. If you know of someone who is sleeping rough, please refer them via Streetlink or call 0300 456 0106. Likewise, if you have any vulnerable neighbours, please check on them and ensure they have everything they need during the cold spell.
